February 4, 2011: Plans are moving along for the new BMW Motorcycle dealership in Asheville. It will be on Bryson Street across from the FedEx/Kinkos building and will be open in late April or early May and will also have Husky and Vespa. Check here for updates: eurosportasheville.com
October 29, 2010: The Blue Ridge Parkway is closed for repair work in the area of the rockslide north of Pisgah. This closure will most certainly last through the winter as this area is typically closed for snow anyway.
October 25, 2010: I-40 at the TN/NC line is now fully open!
August 12, 2010: Highway 63 northwest of Asheville is reportedly being paved. Expect delays. Don't know if it is the nice smooth pavement or 'chip seal'.
July 19 through end of July or so: The Asheville 'commuter section' of the Blue Ridge Parkway will be closed for some repair work. There are plenty of detours around this section. There is also some guardrail construction and pavement work around Craggy Gardens to Mt. Mitchell.
July 17, 2010: The Dragon is now open. Have fun and be careful.
May 2010: The vast majority of the Blue Ridge Parkway is now open, with the only exception around the rock slide between 191 and 151/Pisgah just south of Asheville. This section is supposed to open to one lane in June or July depending on slide repair progress.
April 26, 2010: I-40 at the TN/NC line is now open! 3 of 4 lanes are now clear. Check out the rock anchors as you go through.

April 10, 2010: There was an article in the Asheville paper about geocaching in the National Forests - there are apparently new restrictions on it in areas. Check first with USFS.
April 8, 2010: The Dragon will be reopening April 12 from 8am to 8pm. There will be 2 LEOs stationed there and a gate at the state line to allow access to near the rockslide area. An NC county will reportedly be providing emergency services if needed. Have fun and be careful. 30 mph limit now remember.
March 2010: The Dragon is closed until around the end of June or early July for the rockslide cleanup.
March 2010: Many parts of the Blue Ridge Parkway are closed for cleanup of winter damage and some slides. Be sure to call the National Park Service information line for a current listing of closures as sections will be periodically opened over the next couple of months.
